Schinkel Appraisals

Schinkel Real Estate was founded in 1959 by William Schinkel in Hamilton, Ontario. The firm originally specialized in real estate sales in the greater Hamilton area, including residential, commercial, and development land.

During the 1970s, the business expanded its scope to include property appraisals, primarily for financial institutions. In 1975, Robert Schinkel joined the firm primarily as a sales representative. By the early 1980s, the appraisal portion of the business was expanding at a considerable rate. In 1989, after a successful number of years in sales with a national company, Glenn Rowell joined the team.

William Schinkel retired in 1995, with Robert assuming leadership of the business. William remained involved in the administrative side of the business until, after 53 years of faithful service to the company, he retired fully in 2012.

Schinkel Real Estate and Appraisals Inc, as the company was now known, continued to flourish under Robert’s leadership. In addition to being a leader in the appraisal sector, Robert was an active volunteer in local charities and real estate boards, and received the distinguished Honorary Life Membership from the Real Estate Association of Hamilton-Burlington, among other honours.

In 2020, the company was renamed Schinkel Appraisals Inc and joined the Ellens & Associates group of businesses. Robert continues with the firm in a contract and advisory position.

William Schinkel, founder of the company and a man dedicated to the real estate business, passed away in 2019. His indelible legacy, a reputation respected and maintained by his successors, lasts in the company he began.
